Alec Lewis is a staff writer at The Athletic, covering the Kansas City Royals. Before graduating from journalism at the University of Missouri, he was hired to cover the club day-to-day. Not only is he tasked with seeking out story ideas and executing them on a daily basis, but he also carries the responsibility of building relationships with those in and around the Kansas City’s professional baseball organization.
Before he was hired on full-time by The Athletic, Alec covered Missouri football for the company. Before that, he wrote features and reported enterprise stories for the Columbia Missourian. Internships at Yahoo! Sports, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Kansas City Star, the Columbia Daily Tribune and The Birmingham News (Alabama Media Group) paved that path. Alec is from Birmingham, Alabama — yes, the college football capital of the world. Simply put: He loves good stories and good people.
